Boarding Questions
What types of boarding do you offer?
We offer Full Board and Trainer Coordination services. Each option can be supplemented with add-on services like medication administration or night stalling.
What are your vaccination and health requirements?
We require up-to-date core vaccinations and a negative Coggins test before arrival. Specific vaccine requirements and other health guidelines are provided in our boarding packet.
Do you accept short-term or trial boarding?
Yes. Trial and short-term stays are available to ensure the facility is a good fit for your horse.
How often are stalls cleaned for Full Board?
Stalls included in Full Board are cleaned daily with bedding refreshed as needed to maintain comfort and sanitation.
Are owners allowed to visit and ride their horses?
Yes. Once owners are fully onboarded and approved for facility access, they may visit the property at any time. The riding area and arena may be used whenever they are available.
Feeding & Nutrition
Can I bring my own feed and supplements?
Yes. We store owner-provided feed and supplements and administer them per your written instructions.
How do you handle special dietary needs?
Special diets are documented during intake and administered carefully. We coordinate with owners and vets for cases such as metabolic diseases or ulcer management.
Turnout & Pastures
How often are horses turned out?
Turnout is provided daily based on each horse’s individual needs. Horses are turned out every day as part of their routine care, with schedules and details confirmed during onboarding to ensure each horse’s requirements are properly met.
Training & Services
Can trainers use the facility?
Yes. Trainers may work at Lakeview Stables after registration and compliance with facility rules.
Health & Emergencies
What happens in a medical emergency?
The owner will be contacted immediately, and coordination will be made with the designated veterinarian for assessment and treatment. In critical situations, emergency care may be authorized to preserve the horse’s life if the owner cannot be reached in time.
How are farrier and veterinary appointments handled?
We coordinate routine farrier and vet visits as requested by owners. Owners are billed for any professional service costs incurred.
Policies & Contracts
What is your cancellation or notice policy?
Standard boarding contracts typically require a 30-day written notice for termination. Trial stays and special agreements may have different terms.
Are there any late payment fees?
Yes — late payments may incur fees as outlined in the boarding agreement. We encourage timely payments to avoid service interruptions.
Safety & Conduct
What safety measures are in place?
Secure fencing, routine inspections, emergency protocols, staff training in basic equine first aid, and strict facility rules for visitors are part of our safety approach.
Are dogs allowed on the property?
Dogs may be permitted but must be leashed and supervised. Dogs off-leash or disturbing horses are not allowed.
Preparing for Boarding
What documents do I need to provide?
Proof of vaccinations, a negative Coggins, emergency contact details, and the name and phone of your veterinarian and farrier are required prior to arrival.
How do I prepare my horse for the first day?
Bring all current feed and supplement instructions, any medications, and a list of routine care practices. Arrive with current vet/farrier contact information and any relevant medical records.
Frequently Encountered Owner Concerns
My horse is reactive — can Lakeview Stables handle him/her?
We assess behavioral needs during intake and design a care plan, including separate turnout or stall arrangements when necessary. Safety and comfort guide our management choices.
What if my horse needs stall rest due to injury?
We can manage stall rest according to documented veterinary instructions and provide medication or treatment administration as needed. If a horse is injured and requires extended care beyond standard boarding services, additional charges may apply based on the level of care required.
